Rebecca's Cotillion

The Top Ten

The Top Ten Reasons to Send Your Young Adult to Rebecca's Cotillion.

10. You want your young adult to be comfortable in any social situation. Introductions, hand shakes, receiving line behavior, asking a partner for a dance, walking with a lady or gentleman-- all of these skills are taught and reviewed at Rebecca's Cotillion.

9. Your young adult may be totally disinterested in members of the opposite gender; however, when he or she is interested, you want your young adult to know the appropriate rules for social behavior between men and women.

8. You want your young adult to learn how to dance. Moshing and crowd surfing are dangerous, and dancing with a partner is really fun. Rebecca's Cotillion dance instructions give your teen the confidence to get out on that dance floor.

7. Dancing is a completely acceptable form of intimacy between young adults. When your young adult loves to dance, he or she will not be leaving the prom before it is over.

6. Social teenagers are happy teenagers, and the entire house is relaxed when the teenagers are happy. Students see old friends from elementary school and meet new friends at Rebecca's Cotillion. Then they see these new friends at their middle school and later at the high school.

5. Students are given clues about adolescent behavior which gives them an edge in their social situations. For example, insulting each other has become the new low American art form. I teach students how to deal with insults and vicious teasing at the middle school.

4. In a culture that continuously dresses down, students dress up for Cotillion; therefore, they become comfortable in more formal clothing and actually enjoy wearing clothing that is not gender less.

3. Students become comfortable introducing themselves to adults. The first time your young adult extends his or her hand for a handshake, you will be pleasantly surprised.

2. Rebecca's Cotillion is fun! Your young adult may "pitch a fit" about attending, but he or she will only do it the first time!

1. Your young adults will not be aware of what they are learning; however, you will see a difference in their behavior and in their self confidence
